Reason Party leader and former Victorian MP Fiona Patten has joined the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA) and will stand for the board at this month’s AGM. Patten was first elected to parliament in 2014 and played a key role in Victoria becoming the first state to legalise medicinal cannabis two years later. Having lost her Northern Metropolitan upper house seat in November’s election, Patten has been introducing newly elected Legalise Cannabis MPs Rachel Payne and David Ettershank to parliament and ensuring momentum is not lost around issues such as drug-driving reform.
