Legalise Cannabis Victoria (LCV) has introduced a bill to exempt medicinal cannabis users from the state’s drug-driving laws. The Road Safety Amendment (Medicinal Cannabis) Bill 2023 would see prescribed medicinal cannabis that does not impair driving treated the same way as other prescription drugs. Specifically, it would insert a clause into the Road Safety Act 1986 excluding drivers from prosecution if their blood or oral fluid contains THC from a legally prescribed medicinal cannabis product which has been used as recommended. The bill is expected to be debated in late-February, early-March.
