As the number of prescriptions and patients continues to rise, Dr Laurence Kemp said it was time for the industry to draw up a code of conduct to help maintain quality of care and encourage transparency. Dr Laurence Kemp: Cann I Help has grown to around 30 doctors Those firms meeting predetermined standards could carry an accreditation stamp to set them apart from those who don’t, he said. The call comes amid the ongoing debate over ownership links between some clinics, manufacturers and dispensaries. It has led to growing unease that patients are being kept in the dark and not told they are being sold products that commercially benefit the prescriber. Kemp said he shared the concern, arguing that a full range of products should be available and that patients should not be compelled to use a firm’s in-house dispensary.
