Topaz with IP Australia. The company withdrew applications late last week to register Wildflower, and Cannatrek Wildflower, a product name launched in the Australian market by Lyphe Group in late March. Cannabiz revealed last month that Cannatrek had lodged bids to trademark the words in mid April, prompting Lyphe Group to hastily apply for the trademark itself amid plans to oppose Cannatrek’s application. Cannatrek chief executive Tommy Huppert suggested the firm had been oblivious that Wildflower was already in use when it lodged the trademark documentation. “We have withdrawn the trademark as Cannatrek became aware of prior use by another entity,” he said. In addition to opposing the Wildflower trademark, Lyphe Group indicated last month that it was also contemplating objecting to Cannatrek’s ongoing strategy of registering T and C numbers. Cannabiz has approached Lyphe Group for comment.
