Ballarat’s Federation TAFE becomes the first Australian campus to offer nationally accredited training in medicinal cannabis cultivation and production. Certificates III in the field will be available, with Certificates IV to follow in 2025. The industry is expected to see significant growth, with predictions that by 2028, Victoria will cater to 30-50% of nationwide demand. Additionally, the university believes the industry will grow by 40% annually for the next five years. The course will bring job opportunities to regional Victoria, and GemKom, a Melbourne-based cultivation company, has partnered with the university to provide practical training for the students. With demand for medicinal cannabis increasing rapidly, the industry offers a sustainable career path for individuals.
